BlackBerry A10 set for November launch as new flagship handset?

BlackBerry is preparing to launch a new flagship BB10 handset later this year, reports have claimed.

CNET has 'learned' that an all-touchscreen device called the BlackBerry A10 will replace the current BlackBerry Z10 at the top of table for the Canadian smartphone company.

The A10 is scheduled for a November release, according to the report, giving the phone-maker formerly known as RIM a shot as snapping up some festive mobile buyers.

As a result of the launch, CNET says the current Z10 device and the QWERTY-toting BlackBerry Q10 will become more affordable as a result, which is good news for those who've been put off by the high pricing.

The report brings no word on potential specs and features, but it may be that BlackBerry looks to latch onto the trend of larger screen sizes in order to keep page with Android manufacturers like Samsung and HTC.

Apparently, BlackBerry had planned to launch the device at the BlackBerry Live event in Orlando, Florida last month, but held off in order to push the launch of the Q10 device in some markets.

The company did launch a phone at the expo, but it was the lower-cost BlackBerry Q5 device, which considerably lowered the entry level for the all-important BB10 OS.
